Demonstrates the Stroop Effect and challenge your brain.
The purpose of this app is to demonstrate and illustrate an interesting phenomenon, which appears into the brain/neurons, when a task for our brain challenges the links between the visual color incoming by eye nerves and the word of the color processed by the rational mind.
The Stroop test is actually challenging our brain and mind.
Background from neuroscience: The eye nerves are delivering signals to the brain much faster than the rational mind, because the eye nerves respond immediately and the rational mind needs time to think.
When we have time pressure to answer correctly, this specifics of our brain and nerves are creating a impulse inside us, where we want to click on the incorrect answer and in the same time we need to use our will, stay focused and think fast consciously in order to have correct answers and make all questions each time for shorter period of time.
Playing instructions:
First you need to select one of two modes. By default it starts in Stroop Effect or "Get Meaning, Put Color" as named in the menu.
When a game starts the first question appears and you have to click one of the four buttons with colors as an answer.
So, the first goal is to have as many as possible correct answers at the end of the test sequence.
When you start achieving all correct answers easily, it is time to speed up your reactions and make them for a shorter time.
Features:
1. Playing mode "Get Meaning, Put Color" or Stroop Effect - Understand the meaning and click the button colored with this color.
2. Playing mode "Get Color, Put Meaning" - Recognize the colour and click the button with the correct written color as text.
3. Questions organized as a test sequence.
4. Shows the result after the test.
5. High scores - keeps track of your best result for each level.
6. Supports different color palettes for different tastes.
Permissions:
The free version of the app uses ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE and INTERNET permissions, because it shows ads.
Your feedback and/or review is more than welcome.

Stroop Effect TestThe Stroop Effect Test is a classic psychological test that demonstrates the interference between automatic and controlled processes in the brain. It was first described by John Ridley Stroop in 1935.
Procedure
In the Stroop Effect Test, participants are presented with a list of words printed in different colors. The task is to name the color of the ink in which each word is printed, ignoring the meaning of the word itself. For example, if the word "red" is printed in blue ink, the participant must say "blue."
Results
The Stroop Effect Test typically produces a significant delay in naming the color of the ink when the word and the ink color are incongruent (e.g., the word "red" printed in blue ink) compared to when they are congruent (e.g., the word "red" printed in red ink). This delay is known as the Stroop effect.
Explanation
The Stroop effect is thought to occur because reading words is an automatic process that is difficult to inhibit. When the word and the ink color are incongruent, the automatic process of reading the word interferes with the controlled process of naming the ink color. This interference results in a delay in naming the ink color.
Applications
The Stroop Effect Test has been used in a variety of research studies to investigate attention, cognitive control, and executive function. It has also been used in clinical settings to assess neuropsychological functioning and to diagnose disorders such as ADHD and dementia.
Variations
There are many variations of the Stroop Effect Test. Some variations include:
* Color-word Stroop Test: This is the classic Stroop Effect Test described above.
* Word-color Stroop Test: In this variation, participants are presented with a list of color names printed in different colors. The task is to name the word, ignoring the ink color.
* Object-color Stroop Test: In this variation, participants are presented with a list of pictures of objects printed in different colors. The task is to name the object, ignoring the ink color.
Factors Affecting the Stroop Effect
The magnitude of the Stroop effect can be affected by a number of factors, including:
* Age: The Stroop effect is typically larger in children than in adults.
* Education: The Stroop effect is typically smaller in individuals with higher levels of education.
* Intelligence: The Stroop effect is typically smaller in individuals with higher levels of intelligence.
* Attention: The Stroop effect is typically larger in individuals with attention problems.
* Cognitive control: The Stroop effect is typically larger in individuals with poor cognitive control.
