Smart TrucoOverview
Smart Truco is a classic trick-taking card game that originated in Spain and is widely played in South America, especially in Brazil, Argentina, and Uruguay. It is a partnership game played with a Spanish deck of 40 cards, with four players forming two teams of two.
Gameplay
The game consists of a series of rounds, each of which is divided into two phases: the bidding phase and the playing phase.
Bidding Phase
In the bidding phase, each player bids on the number of tricks they believe their team can take. The minimum bid is 1, and the maximum bid is 6. The team with the highest bid wins the bidding and becomes the attacking team.
Playing Phase
In the playing phase, the attacking team attempts to take the number of tricks they bid. The non-attacking team tries to prevent them from doing so.
The cards are dealt clockwise to each player, and the player to the left of the dealer leads with any card. The other players must follow suit if possible, but if they cannot, they may play any card.
The highest card of the suit led wins the trick, unless a trump card is played. Trump cards are the 1, 11, and 12 of each suit, and they beat all other cards.
The team that wins the trick leads the next card. The game continues until one team has taken the number of tricks they bid.
Scoring
If the attacking team takes the number of tricks they bid, they score the following points:
* 1 point for each trick taken
* 10 points for a "truco" (taking all 6 tricks)
* 20 points for a "retruco" (taking all 6 tricks after the non-attacking team has bid a "truco")
If the attacking team fails to take the number of tricks they bid, they lose 1 point for each trick they missed.
The first team to reach 12 points wins the game.
