Introduction

Phỏm Tá Lả, also known as Tá Lả, is a popular card game played in Vietnam and other Southeast Asian countries. It is a two-player game that combines elements of rummy and poker. Players aim to form the strongest combination of cards and meld them on the table to earn points.

Gameplay

The game is played with a standard deck of 52 cards. Players are dealt 10 cards each. The remaining cards are placed face down in the middle of the table to form the stock pile. The top card of the stock pile is turned face up to create the discard pile.

Players take turns drawing a card from either the stock pile or the discard pile. They must then discard one card face up onto the discard pile. The objective of the game is to form sets of cards called "melds." Melds can be sequences of three or more cards in the same suit (called "sáp") or sets of three or four cards of the same rank (called "quằn").

Melds

There are four types of melds in Phỏm Tá Lả:
