G4A: EuchreIntroduction
G4A: Euchre is a trick-taking card game for four players in two partnerships. It is a variant of the classic game of Euchre, with some notable differences.
Objective
The objective of G4A: Euchre is to be the first partnership to score 10 points. Points are scored by taking tricks and by making special bids.
Setup
A standard 24-card deck is used, consisting of the Ace, King, Queen, Jack, and 10 of each suit (clubs, diamonds, hearts, and spades). The cards are ranked in descending order, with the Ace being the highest and the 10 being the lowest.
Bidding
Before each hand, players bid on the number of tricks they think their partnership can take. The bidding starts with the player to the left of the dealer and proceeds clockwise. Players can bid any number from 0 to 5.
Trump Suit
After the bidding, the trump suit is determined. The trump suit is the suit that is turned up by the dealer. If the dealer turns up the Jack of diamonds, then diamonds are trump.
Gameplay
The player to the left of the dealer leads with any card. The other players must follow suit if they can. If they cannot follow suit, they may play any card, including a trump card. The highest card of the suit led wins the trick, unless a trump card is played, in which case the highest trump card wins.
Special Bids
In addition to the regular bids, there are two special bids in G4A: Euchre:
* Go Alone: A player can bid "go alone" if they believe they can take all five tricks without the help of their partner. If the player succeeds, their partnership scores 4 points. If they fail, their partnership loses 1 point.
* Stick the Dealer: A player can bid "stick the dealer" if they believe they can take all five tricks with the help of their partner. If the partnership succeeds, they score 2 points. If they fail, they lose 1 point.
Scoring
Points are scored as follows:
* Taking a trick: 1 point
* Making a go alone bid: 4 points
* Making a stick the dealer bid: 2 points
* Losing a trick: -1 point
Winning
The first partnership to score 10 points wins the game.
