Overview

ბორბალო is a traditional Georgian card game played with a deck of 36 cards. It is a trick-taking game similar to Hearts or Spades, where the goal is to avoid taking penalty cards and be the first to reach a predetermined score.

Gameplay

The game is played with 4 players in two partnerships. The cards are shuffled and dealt evenly to each player. One player leads with any card, and the other players must follow suit if possible. If a player cannot follow suit, they can play any card. The highest card of the suit led wins the trick, unless a trump card is played.

Trump Suit

At the start of each round, one suit is designated as the trump suit. The trump suit can be changed by playing a special card called the "Borbalo."

Special Cards

There are two special cards in the deck:

* Borbalo: Changes the trump suit.

* Ten of Diamonds: Reverses the direction of play.

Scoring

Penalty cards are worth points:

* Hearts: 1 point each

* Queens: 13 points each

The first partnership to reach a predetermined score (usually 100) wins the game.
