Brisca Más, a captivating card game of Spanish origin, demands strategic thinking, sharp memory, and a touch of luck. This comprehensive guide delves into the intricacies of Brisca Más, providing a detailed overview for experienced players.

Objective

The goal of Brisca Más is to accumulate the highest number of points by capturing cards and forming sets. Points are awarded for capturing certain cards, forming melds, and discarding low-value cards.

Deck and Cards

Brisca Más is played with a Spanish deck consisting of 40 cards divided into four suits: Swords, Cups, Coins, and Clubs. Each suit contains ten cards, numbered from Ace (highest) to 2 (lowest). The Ace of Spades, known as the "Brisca," is the trump card.

Setup

The game is played by two or four players in partnerships. Two decks are used, shuffled together to form a single 80-card deck. Each player is dealt 10 cards, and the remaining cards form the draw pile.

Gameplay

The player to the left of the dealer leads with a card. The other players must follow suit if possible. If a player cannot follow suit, they may play any card, including a trump card. The highest card of the suit led wins the trick, unless a trump card is played, in which case the highest trump card wins.

The winner of the trick collects the cards and adds them to their hand. They then lead the next card.

Sets

Players can form sets by collecting three or more cards of the same suit in sequence. Sets are worth points as follows:

* Three cards in sequence: 20 points

* Four cards in sequence: 40 points

* Five cards in sequence: 60 points

* Six cards in sequence: 80 points

* Seven cards in sequence: 100 points

Brisca

The Brisca, the Ace of Spades, is the trump card. It can beat any other card, regardless of suit. The player who captures the Brisca receives 10 bonus points.

Discarding

Players can discard low-value cards to reduce their hand size and improve their chances of capturing higher-value cards. Discarded cards are placed face down in a pile known as the "table."

Scoring

The game ends when all cards have been played. Players tally their points as follows:

* Captured cards:

* Ace: 11 points

* King, Queen, Jack: 10 points

* Other cards: Face value

* Sets: As described above

* Brisca: 10 bonus points

* Table: Points for discarded cards

The partnership with the highest total score wins the game.

Variations

There are numerous variations of Brisca Más, each with its own unique rules and scoring system. Some common variations include:

* Brisca Cortada: Players can cut the draw pile at any time to replenish their hands.

* Brisca Pica: The player who captures the Brisca receives 20 bonus points.

* Brisca Escoba: Players try to collect all cards of a single suit to form an "escoba," which is worth 20 points.
