Overview

Alrai, meaning "the opinion" in Arabic, is a traditional Arab card game that combines elements of strategy, luck, and social interaction. It is played with a standard deck of 52 cards and can be enjoyed by two to four players.

Gameplay

The game begins with each player receiving 13 cards. The remaining cards are placed face down in a pile called the "stock." The top card of the stock is flipped over to start the discard pile.

Players take turns drawing a card from either the stock or the discard pile and discarding a card onto the discard pile. The goal of the game is to be the first player to get rid of all their cards.

Card Ranks

The cards in Alrai are ranked as follows, from highest to lowest:

Special Cards

There are two special cards in Alrai:

* Joker: Can be used as any card to complete a run or set.

* Two of Spades: Can be played on any card to force the next player to draw two cards.

Runs and Sets

Players can meld cards into runs (three or more cards in sequence) or sets (three or more cards of the same rank). Melds must be face up on the table.

Winning

The first player to get rid of all their cards wins the game. If the stock runs out before a player can get rid of all their cards, the player with the fewest cards in their hand wins.

Strategy

Alrai requires a combination of strategy and luck. Players must carefully manage their cards, drawing and discarding strategically to create melds and avoid getting stuck with high-value cards.
