WVVA News is a local television news station based in Bluefield, West Virginia. It is owned by Gray Television and serves the Bluefield-Beckley-Oak Hill, West Virginia market.
History
WVVA first went on the air in 1955 as WBLY-TV. The station was originally owned by the Daily Telegraph Printing Company, which also owned the Bluefield Daily Telegraph newspaper. In 1967, WBLY-TV was sold to Gray Communications.
Programming
WVVA News produces several local newscasts each day, including a morning show, a midday newscast, and an evening newscast. The station also produces a number of special programs, including a weekly public affairs show and a monthly magazine show.
Coverage Area
WVVA News covers a wide area of southern West Virginia, including the counties of Mercer, McDowell, Wyoming, Raleigh, Summers, Monroe, and Greenbrier. The station's signal can also be seen in parts of Virginia and Kentucky.
