General fixes and performance enhancements

What is WFSB?

WFSB, virtual channel 3, is a CBS-affiliated television station licensed to Hartford, Connecticut, United States. It is the flagship property of Sinclair Broadcast Group's Hartford duopoly with Fox affiliate WTIC-TV (channel 61). Both stations share studios on Broadcast Plaza in Rocky Hill, while WFSB's transmitter is located on Rattlesnake Mountain in Farmington.

History

WFSB first signed on the air on September 24, 1957, as WTIC-TV. The station was owned by Travelers Insurance Company, which also owned the Hartford Times newspaper and WTIC radio (1080 AM). WTIC-TV was the second television station in Connecticut, after WHCT (channel 18) in Hartford, which had signed on in 1953.

In 1977, Travelers sold WTIC-TV to Capital Cities Communications. Capital Cities merged with ABC in 1985, and WTIC-TV became an ABC affiliate. In 1996, Capital Cities/ABC was acquired by The Walt Disney Company.

In 2007, Disney announced that it would sell WFSB and its other ABC-affiliated stations to Sinclair Broadcast Group. The sale was completed in 2009.

Programming

WFSB airs a mix of local news, syndicated programming, and CBS network shows. The station's local newscasts are branded as "Eyewitness News". WFSB also produces a nightly prime time newscast called "Eyewitness News at 10pm".
