Introduction

SSQ Hiligaynon is a classic Filipino card game played with a Spanish deck of 48 cards. It is particularly popular in the Western Visayas region of the Philippines, where it is known as Hiligaynon or Sugod. Objective

The objective of SSQ Hiligaynon is to be the first player to get rid of all their cards.

Setup

* Number of Players: 2-4 players

* Deck: A Spanish deck of 48 cards, with the 8s and 9s removed.

* Deal: Each player is dealt 10 cards face down. The remaining cards form the draw pile.

Gameplay

The game begins with the player to the left of the dealer. On their turn, a player can do one of the following actions:

* Play a card: A player can play a card that matches the suit or number of the card on the top of the discard pile.

* Draw a card: If a player cannot play a card, they must draw a card from the draw pile.

* Say "Sugod": If a player has only one card left, they can say "Sugod" to indicate that they are going out.

Special Cards

There are two special cards in SSQ Hiligaynon:

* King: The King of any suit can be played on any card.

* Two of Spades: The Two of Spades is a wild card and can be played on any card, even if the suit does not match.

Winning

The first player to get rid of all their cards wins the game. If the draw pile runs out and no player can play a card, the game ends in a draw.

Variations

There are several variations of SSQ Hiligaynon, including:

* 3-13: In this variation, the 3s and 13s are also removed from the deck.

* Pass: In this variation, players can pass their turn if they cannot play a card.

* Penalty: In this variation, a player who draws a card after saying "Sugod" must give a penalty card to another player.
