Skin Check WA lets patients book medical appointments with their favourite general practice and allied health providers. The service is free to users and allows patients to book a doctor's appointment in 3 easy steps:

1. Choose a reason for your visit

2. Select a practitioner

3. Choose an appointment time

By using the Skin Check WA mobile app, you'll also have access to the following features:

- See availability of doctors in real time

- Fast access to your favourite medical providers and practitioners

- Customised doctor and appointment type set-up to ensure you book with the right doctor based on your condition

- Quick bookings on behalf of family members and dependants

- Email notifications confirming your appointment

- Ability to cancel your appointment adhering to provider guidelines

Overview

Skin Check WA is a free skin cancer screening program available to Western Australians aged 40 years and over. The program aims to detect and diagnose skin cancers early, when they are most treatable.

Eligibility

To be eligible for a free skin check, you must be:

* Aged 40 years or over

* A Western Australian resident

* Not have had a skin check in the past 12 months

How to Book

To book a free skin check, you can:

* Call the Skin Check WA hotline on 1300 733 548

* Visit the Skin Check WA website at www.skincheckwa.com.au

* Visit a participating GP or skin cancer clinic

What to Expect

During your skin check, a qualified health professional will examine your skin from head to toe, looking for any suspicious lesions or changes. They will use a variety of techniques, including:

* Visual examination

* Dermoscopy (a magnifying device that allows the doctor to see the skin in more detail)

* Palpation (feeling the skin for any lumps or bumps)

Results

The results of your skin check will be provided to you on the day of your appointment. If any suspicious lesions are found, you may be referred to a dermatologist for further investigation and treatment.
