The Saudi Pro League, also known as the Roshan Saudi League due to sponsorship reasons, is the top-tier professional football league in Saudi Arabia. Established in 1976, it is organized by the Saudi Arabian Football Federation (SAFF). The league consists of 16 teams and operates on a system of promotion and relegation with the Saudi First Division League.

Format and Regulations

The Saudi Pro League season runs from August to May, with each team playing 30 matches over the course of the season. Teams play each other twice, once at home and once away. The league is decided on a points system, with three points awarded for a win, one point for a draw, and zero points for a loss. The team with the most points at the end of the season is crowned champion.

In the event of a tie on points, the following tiebreakers are used in order:

* Head-to-head record between the tied teams

* Goal difference in all matches

* Goals scored in all matches

* Fair play record

History and Notable Teams

The Saudi Pro League has a rich history and has produced some of the most successful clubs in Asia. Al-Hilal is the most successful club in the league's history, having won the title a record 18 times. Other notable clubs include Al-Nassr, Al-Ittihad, and Al-Shabab.

Current Season

The 2022-23 Saudi Pro League season began on August 25, 2022. The current standings have Al-Hilal leading the league, followed by Al-Shabab and Al-Nassr. The season is expected to be closely contested, with several teams vying for the title.

International Recognition

The Saudi Pro League has gained international recognition in recent years, with several of its clubs participating in the AFC Champions League, the top club competition in Asia. Al-Hilal has won the AFC Champions League four times, while Al-Ittihad and Al-Nassr have each won the title once.
