History

NDR Schleswig-Holstein was founded in 1948 as part of the Nordwestdeutscher Rundfunk (NWDR), the predecessor to ARD. In 1955, it became an independent regional broadcaster, known as NDR Fernsehen. The broadcaster adopted its current name in 1992.

Funding and Governance

NDR Schleswig-Holstein is funded through a combination of advertising revenue and a broadcast fee collected from households in Schleswig-Holstein. It is governed by a Broadcasting Council, which is elected by the state parliament and represents various social groups and interests.
