Hollandse Nieuwe is a classic Dutch card game for two to four players. The game is played with a standard deck of 52 cards. The goal of the game is to be the first player to get rid of all of their cards.

Gameplay

To start the game, each player is dealt seven cards. The remaining cards are placed face down in a pile in the center of the table. The top card of the pile is turned face up and placed next to it to start the discard pile.

On their turn, a player can either play a card from their hand onto the discard pile or draw a card from the deck. If a player plays a card, it must match the rank or suit of the card on top of the discard pile. For example, if the top card of the discard pile is a 7 of hearts, a player can play a 7 of any suit or a heart of any rank.

If a player cannot play a card from their hand, they must draw a card from the deck. If the card they draw can be played, they can play it immediately. Otherwise, their turn ends.

Special Cards

There are two special cards in Hollandse Nieuwe: the joker and the black queen.

The joker can be played on any card and allows the player to change the suit of the discard pile. For example, if the top card of the discard pile is a 7 of hearts, a player can play the joker to change the suit to spades.

The black queen is a powerful card that can be played at any time. When the black queen is played, the player who played it gets to choose the next suit to be played.

Winning

The first player to get rid of all of their cards wins the game. If the deck runs out of cards before a player gets rid of all of their cards, the player with the fewest cards in their hand wins.

Strategy

Hollandse Nieuwe is a game of strategy and luck. There are a few things you can do to improve your chances of winning:
