FIM Speedway, also known as dirt track racing, is a captivating motorsport that showcases the raw power of motorcycles and the fearless determination of its riders. Governed by the Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM), it takes place on oval dirt tracks, typically measuring 300 to 400 meters in length.

Race Format

Speedway races are conducted in a series of heats, each featuring four riders. Riders start from a stationary position on a grid and race for four laps around the oval. The top two finishers in each heat advance to the semi-finals, while the remaining riders compete in a last chance qualifier for a spot in the final. The final race consists of eight riders, with the winner being the first to cross the finish line.

The Machines

Speedway motorcycles are specially designed for the demands of the sport. They feature lightweight frames, powerful single-cylinder engines, and knobby tires that provide excellent grip on the dirt surface.
