Canterbury Rugby Union, commonly known as Canterbury or the Red and Blacks, is a professional rugby union team based in Christchurch, New Zealand. They compete in the Bunnings NPC, the top-level domestic rugby union competition in New Zealand. Canterbury is one of the most successful teams in the NPC, having won 14 titles, including five consecutive titles from 2008 to 2012.

History

Canterbury Rugby Union was founded in 1879, making it one of the oldest rugby unions in New Zealand. The team has a long and proud history, having produced some of the country's greatest players, including Richie McCaw, Dan Carter, and Kieran Read. Canterbury has also been a major force in international rugby, with many of its players representing the All Blacks.

Home Ground

Canterbury Rugby Union plays its home games at Orangetheory Stadium in Christchurch. The stadium has a capacity of over 18,000 and is one of the most iconic rugby stadiums in New Zealand.

The current Canterbury Rugby Union team is coached by Scott Robertson. The team includes a number of All Blacks, including Sam Whitelock, Codie Taylor, and George Bridge. Canterbury is one of the favorites to win the 2023 Bunnings NPC.
