Gameplay

Borrowell is a cooperative deck-building game for 2-4 players, inspired by the novel "The Borrowers" by Mary Norton. Players take on the roles of tiny borrowers, trying to collect food, supplies, and other items they need to survive while avoiding detection by the human "beans."

Setup

To begin the game, each player chooses a borrower character and takes the corresponding deck of cards. The bean deck is shuffled and placed in the center of the table, and the market deck is placed next to it. Players start the game with a few basic cards in their hands.

Gameplay

On a player's turn, they can play cards from their hand to perform various actions, such as:

* Moving: Moving cards allow players to move their borrowers around the game board, which represents the human house.

* Collecting: Collecting cards allow players to collect food, supplies, and other items they need to survive.

* Hiding: Hiding cards allow players to hide their borrowers from the beans, who can capture them if they are spotted.

* Borrowing: Borrowing cards allow players to take items from the beans without being detected.

Beans

The beans are controlled by the game itself. On the bean's turn, they draw a card from the bean deck and follow the instructions on the card. Bean cards can cause the beans to move around the house, search for borrowers, or capture borrowers who are not hiding.

Winning

The game ends when either all of the borrowers have been captured by the beans or when the borrowers have collected all of the items they need to survive. If the borrowers win, they all share in the victory. If the beans win, they have successfully protected their home from the tiny intruders.

Strategy

Borrowell is a game of strategy and teamwork. Players must work together to collect the items they need while avoiding detection by the beans. They must also plan their movements carefully to avoid being captured. The game requires a balance of risk and reward, as players must decide when to risk being spotted in order to collect valuable items.

Variations

There are several variations of Borrowell that can be played to change the difficulty or gameplay experience. For example, players can choose to play with a limited number of turns or with a time limit. They can also choose to add additional challenges to the game, such as obstacles or traps.
