95.7 KEZJ is a commercial radio station licensed to serve Portland, Oregon, United States. The station is owned by Alpha Media and broadcasts a mainstream rock format. KEZJ's studios are located in the Lloyd District of Portland, and its transmitter is located in Forest Grove, Oregon.
History
KEZJ first went on the air in 1964 as KQFM. The station was originally owned by the Oregonian Publishing Company, which also owned The Oregonian newspaper. KQFM initially broadcast a beautiful music format, but in 1971, the station switched to a rock format. In 1980, KQFM was sold to Buckley Broadcasting, which changed the station's call letters to KEZJ.
Under Buckley Broadcasting, KEZJ continued to broadcast a rock format. The station became known for its strong on-air personalities, including Tom Griswold, who hosted the morning show from 1984 to 1996. In 1997, KEZJ was sold to Clear Channel Communications, which later merged with iHeartMedia.
